Education Programs Generate Interest in Water Quality Field

With population increases, water treatment needs naturally grow and the number of professionals in the field also will increase. According to a 2006 study by the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies (Washington, D.C.) and the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (Washington, D.C.), there will be 45% more jobs in water supply and sanitary services by 2010.

According to a 2005 report by the American Water Works Association (Denver), 35% of current utility employees will be eligible to retire in the next l0 years. As a result, many in the industry are implementing programs to encourage students to enter.
